Dubai is not the cheapest place to visit – so how do you make your money go as far as possible?

Location, location, location!
Think about your plans before you book your accommodation. If you’re planning to be out and about, avoid staying at the end of the Palm or near the airport — you’ll save both time and money on taxis!

Split your stay
Opt for a budget friendly hotel or apartment when you’re planning to be out exploring, and then splurge on a few nights luxury stay to enjoy the hotel facilities at the end of your stay.

Beach clubs on a budget
Look for redeemable deals where your spend on food & drinks gets deducted from the entry price. You’re going to grab a drink anyway! Check Time Out for the latest offers. Mid-week deals are often cheaper than weekend.

Cheap drinks
Fancy a little tipple whilst you’re in your hotel room? Stock up on the very reasonably priced duty free at the airport next to the baggage collection on arrival.

Visiting on Friday?
Try a Friday “business lunch” – some of the best restaurants have deals for set menus with free flowing drinks to celebrate the half days that most people work on a Friday. There’s a lot in the DAFC but they’ve now spread all over the city. Check Time Out for the latest.

Visiting over a weekend?
Make sure you go for a brunch – these are actually superb value for money. For around £100 you get unlimited drinks and food for up to 4 hours at some of the most incredible hotels. The biggest ones are on a Saturday but there are also some available on Sundays now too. Check Time Out for the latest or ask me for some recs!
